At Shelby Area District Library, we take pride in being Preschoolers’ door to learning. We offer numerous programs that children of all ages, and their families, will enjoy and benefit from.
Your little one will love tracking their progress of books read and celebrating milestones with prizes in this early literacy program! This program is made possible through a generous donation from The Gerber Foundation. Stop by the library to learn more and register your child (baby through preschool-aged) today.
Every year, the library hosts an engaging summer-long program to encourage children, youth, and families to read and maintain reading skills. The Summer Reading Program combines tracking minutes read with fun giveaways and interactive events like exotic animal shows and creative craft projects.
Be sure to check back for more information about this year’s program closer to summer. You can also follow us on Facebook for updates and news.
From time to time the library offers take home craft kits for young patrons that can be checked out at the circulation desk. These kits, made available thanks to the Friends of SADL, contain multiple seasonally themed crafts for your child to make and assemble at home. Check our Facebook page for an announcement when new kits are available.
Sign your young child up to receive a new, carefully-selected book delivered monthly to your home free of charge! All children under age 5 living in Oceana, Muskegon, and Newaygo counties are eligible to participate thanks to generous donations to United Way of the Lakeshore.
Explore participating cultural destinations, parks, campgrounds and recreation areas all over the state at a discounted rate with your Shelby Area District Library card!
