Notes from Friends: July 2026
Are you new to the area and want to find out more about how you can support the Shelby Library? Please contact me at [email protected] with questions about how you can volunteer or see library director, Tiffany Haight! Complete the information in our Friends of SADL brochure found at the front desk and a Friend of the Library will contact you. WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS! If you have just a few hours to help sort books for our upcoming Used Book Sale or have some artistic skills to put together a display for silent auction this fall, we need you! Perhaps baking cookies is your thing or assisting our library director Tiffany to supervise children at one of our craft activities; there are many ways to volunteer!
The next quarterly meeting of the Friends of Shelby Area District Library is Thursday, July 9 at 5:00 in the Meeting Room. All are welcome. Plans for the upcoming Good Buy Book Sale August 28 & 29 will be finalized. Refreshments will be served. Those eye-catching yard signs sponsored by Friends of SADL, “IN THIS HOUSE WE SUPPORT LIBRARIES,” are available for you to pick up at our meeting and post in your yard to let everyone know you love your library!
It’s not too early to start gathering books at home to donate to the Book Sale. More about this event will be posted in the next newsletter. Volunteers are needed to sort books and assist with the sale so please sign up at the circulation desk to help. Book donations can be dropped off after Aug. 3.
Has it been a while since you visited the library? Stop by and ask for a quick tour by a staff member. Check out a mystery or romance book to read while enjoying a sunny day at the beach. Libraries have more than books! Try out the new computers, DVD’s, puzzles, painting classes, craft projects, summer reading program for kids. There’s a lot going on at the Shelby Library so take advantage of the many activities this summer for adults and children. And the best part? It’s FREE!
