Notes from Friends: July 2025
Celebrating 30 years since our group was formed in 1995 to support the Shelby Library, the Friends of SADL are planning a Garden Party to celebrate this special anniversary! Friends past and present are invited Saturday, August 2 to join us in the Friends Garden for appetizers, live music by “The Dewey Decibel System,” and an art display of Mariah Vandersluys’ beautiful paintings. Watch for your invitation online or in the mail soon. RSVP requested so we can plan for our caterer, Joanne Clark.
The Shelby Library Open House June 23rd was a fun event for all who attended. Refreshments were provided by the Friends and we enjoyed meeting you!

Are you new to the area and want to find out more about how you can support the library? Please contact me ([email protected]) or complete the information in our Friends of SADL brochure found at the front desk. WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS! If you have just a few hours to help sort books for our upcoming Used Book Sale or have some artistic skills to put together a display for silent auction, we need you! Perhaps baking cookies is your thing or assisting our library director Tiffany to supervise children at one of our craft activities, there are many ways to volunteer!
The next quarterly meeting of the Friends of Shelby Area District Library is Thursday, July 10 at 5:00 in the Meeting Room. Plans for the 30th Anniversary of Friends of SADL party and upcoming Good Buy Book Sale in August will be finalized. Refreshments will be served.
It’s not too early to start gathering books at home to donate to the Book Sale August 23. More about this event will be posted in the next newsletter. Volunteers are needed to sort books and assist with the sale so please sign up at the circulation desk to help. Book donations can be dropped off after Aug. 3. Take advantage of the many activities this summer at the Shelby Library for adults and children. Happy summer!
