Notes from Friends: August 2025
If you are reading this newsletter before Aug. 2, don’t forget about the Friends of SADL Garden Party taking place Saturday August 2 from 1 to 3 pm outdoors, unless inclement weather sends us inside to escape rain or extreme heat. Celebrating 30 years since the Friends of SADL formed in 1995, we will celebrate Friends past and present who have helped to support our Shelby Library! Our Celebration includes live music by the Duo Decibel System, catering by Joanne Clark, and art work display by Mariah Vandersluys.
Looking for some good buys in books to finish off your summer reading? Want to stock up on puzzles, DVDs, board games for those wintry snow days? The Good Buy Used Book Sale is coming to your favorite Shelby Library this month! Beginning the evening of Friday August 22 and Saturday morning August 23 until 1pm, stop by the library and purchase your selections. Beginning August 4 we are accepting donations of books, CD’s, DVD’s, puzzles, games through August 22. Please do not donate encyclopedias, Readers Digests, textbooks or any musty, mildewed, or damaged books!
Thank you to our co-chairs Kathy Sullivan and Mary Ellen Heyde who are also seeking additional volunteers to sign up and help with the sale prior, during, and afterwards. You can sign up at the Circulation Desk to help or contact Kathy or Mary Ellen. Your help to donate books, help sort, assist with sales, and set-up will insure another great book sale for our community! This is a major fundraiser by Friends of SADL to support our library so please be generous when you purchase books. We still have Friends of SADL t-shirts for women in various sizes for $15 cash or check made out to Friends of SADL. Inquire at the circulation desk. Happy 30th Anniversary to all of the Friends of the Shelby Library!
