Join Raymond Goodwin in the meeting room as he performs his play “Richard Descending.” Richard Descending is a compelling, one-man play that dives deep into the heart of a struggling community. Watch as storyteller Raymond Goodwin brings to life the emotional journey of small-town youth facing despair and the haunted teacher determined to reach them.

“Another wonderful play from Raymond Goodwin…” Coleman Area Library
“Thank you for bringing “Richard Descending” to Traverse City. As ever, your work is moving and enjoyable. Your character’s statement that “indifference is a form of anger” was thought-provoking for me. I think that’s a profoundly true observation; that very often anger (perhaps when coupled with a feeling of powerlessness) is expressed as indifference. I thought that was very well-stated. In the flow of the narrative, I was very moved by Richard’s struggle with passivity. In my own life, growing up, I was at times the victim of passivity on the part of people I was dependent on, so the tension of watching “will he or won’t he engage before it’s too late” was very visceral. Likewise, the sense of release when he at last breaks free of his paralysis was cathartic.” Audience member
“Really enjoyed your play, great job!!! … something about plays that give the audience a new perspective than film, book or other media. Thank you for an enjoyable evening.” Audience member
“Raymond, I appreciated your Richard Descending. I watched it from the first row far left. The subject intrigued me. I have worked with several challenged populations… I appreciated… your comfort and presence in presenting your play. You enjoyed doing it.” Audience member
